The Adventure Begins ......

Warning: there are no cards in this post, just some personal stuff. One of the pictures might be a little confronting.

Ok, so this weekend is the beginning of our school holidays here in Victoria. For us they didn't start the best. My oldest son had a playground accident at school on Thursday, and broke his leg. A bit inconvenient you say, but we will cope, just put a cast on .... no, that is not what happened because he broke his femur (bone between knee and hip, largest bone in the body) and it was a spiral fracture that is quite long.

So the doctors decided the best course of action would be an 'external frame with pins going through the skin to the bone (6 to be exact)'.

Here is my 'big man' with his leg in traction before surgery.

Here is a photo after surgery, showing the frame and my 'big man' and my 'little man' lending him support and eating all his goodies.

Needless to say, I won't be doing much stamping any time soon. He is still in hospital and we are not sure when he will be coming home. This frame will be on for about 8 weeks
I will try to do some more updates soon.,,,
Ange :)

Ouchie! I hope he starts feeling better very soon and he heals "good as new". What a tough thing for a boy to go through (and of course his mother)!

Oh, I sympathize with your son (and you), Ange! That must have been a BAD school yard accident...that's a large bone to break. I broke my ankle 20 years ago and it was a spiral break too. They should've operated on me, but it was right before Christmas so they decided to only put a cast. It took FOREVER to heal. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Good morning Ange....oh man that is terrible. I can't even imagine the awkwardness of that contraption inflicts never mind the pain. Poor little guy. What a way to tart a vacation. Thanks goodness little ones adapt so easily he probably won't even be all that bothered by it in a weeks time. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I am sending best wishes for the speediest of recovery for him!

Oh Ange, what an awful thing to happen to your son. I hope he gets better soon. Maybe you can still stamp ~ make projects together like Christmas cards etc for teachers.
Wishing you all the very best!
